Transparent Banshee: heehehhe

PleaseWakeMeUp Idler: I'm here!

Sherpa Voyager: Like your pipe, Transparent.

Transparent Banshee: hiya :-))

Transparent Banshee: ty

PleaseWakeMeUp Idler: Have a seat everyone

Transparent Banshee: so do I especially as I gae up in RL a year and ahalf ago :-))

Jeanni Nishi: Did I tale your seat, Wake?

PleaseWakeMeUp Idler: don't worry,

PleaseWakeMeUp Idler: If I got possesive over a seat, man...

PleaseWakeMeUp Idler: And besides, I can just AR you ... :- )

Transparent Banshee: hehehehe

Jeanni Nishi: heh!

PleaseWakeMeUp Idler: Ok, lets get started.

Sherpa Voyager: So anyway, about the installation

Sherpa Voyager: we want to discuss it as art if possible

Sherpa Voyager: and not whether or not folks agree with the statements per se.

Sherpa Voyager: Though I expect that has to play into it at some level.

Emilie Cryotank: ok!

Sherpa Voyager: Initial reactions?

Sky Hye: What I appreciate about the exhibit is the pace that is encouraged. It is not a 15 minute walk through. I think much time could be spent there, soaking it in.

PleaseWakeMeUp Idler: Yes, we realized that while it was in progress!

Harlequin Randt: Yes, I wish i had started earlier

Sky Hye: It has to do with the over titles.

Transparent Banshee: I'm happy to have seen it, very cool

Sherpa Voyager: It's the first time that Wake and I have created something together.

Transparent Banshee: I must leave pretty soon though...

PleaseWakeMeUp Idler: np Trans

Sherpa Voyager: We weren't at all sure if our styles would work together.

Emilie Cryotank: for me it had an extra layer as I got the state of the union speach on the tv as I went through that... it was amazing -w- all the layers

PleaseWakeMeUp Idler: We understand the Time Zone challenged... :- )

Sky Hye: Trans, give your reaction, before you go.

Transparent Banshee: hehehehe

Sherpa Voyager: Oh, my yes. THE TIMING! I'd forgotetten that

PleaseWakeMeUp Idler: I forgot about that!!!

Harlequin Randt: it was perfect timing

PleaseWakeMeUp Idler: godo

Sky Hye: I was listening to that too, it was very ironic.

PleaseWakeMeUp Idler: good

Emilie Cryotank: yes it was!

Sherpa Voyager: Gosh. Wish we could take credit for that.

Emilie Cryotank: shh, take credit!

Transparent Banshee: well, Sky and I was pondering over how many times the truth can be told without it having an impact on the world....

Emilie Cryotank: ;)

PleaseWakeMeUp Idler: yeah, I don't know that one!

PleaseWakeMeUp Idler: but good point

Sky Hye: Us old folks remember Viet Nam, for example

Sherpa Voyager: The artists are the ones who know. Look at Dylan. How many deaths will it take till he knows that too many people have died?

Sherpa Voyager: The artists tell the truth.

Transparent Banshee: right

Sky Hye: It's a grim responsibility.

Harlequin Randt: What struck me most about your installation, was the screening of the red, walking through it

Transparent Banshee: and again and again...and again.....

Sherpa Voyager: Perhaps that's one of our functions.

Sky Hye: Grim inspiration.

Sherpa Voyager: To be the voices

Sherpa Voyager: The prophency

Harlequin Randt: Something that you could not have accomplished in rl

PleaseWakeMeUp Idler: The red was a result of the collaboration

Sherpa Voyager: Right, true.

PleaseWakeMeUp Idler: It wasn't there at first and neither of us liked

PleaseWakeMeUp Idler: it wthout it

Sky Hye: Really, Wake?

PleaseWakeMeUp Idler: Jus the words and the watchers

Sherpa Voyager: YEah, the red was brilliant.

PleaseWakeMeUp Idler: it didn't work at all.

Sherpa Voyager: It feels like an open wound.

Sherpa Voyager: That was all Wake's idea.

PleaseWakeMeUp Idler: So I had those laying around from a failed scuplture

Sky Hye: Wake, was it your idea, then Sherpa's approval?

Emilie Cryotank: or a blood cloud

PleaseWakeMeUp Idler: threw it down and turned it red

PleaseWakeMeUp Idler: I did it without her

PleaseWakeMeUp Idler: but we both thought it was better, right?

Sherpa Voyager: We just put stuff out there ... no approval.

Harlequin Randt: it gave it another dimension, of moving into another time and thought process

Sherpa Voyager: I started with the words.

Sky Hye: Some collaboration

Harlequin Randt: The red i mean

Transparent Banshee: guys 4 Am...and counting....have a good night....and fly by greenhouse and look at the new building :-))

PleaseWakeMeUp Idler: The red was all mine

Sherpa Voyager: When the poem was halfway done he started seeing what he would create

Sky Hye: Got it.

PleaseWakeMeUp Idler: bye Trans! thanks for cmoming

Sherpa Voyager: We talked about it.

Sherpa Voyager: A lot.

Sky Hye: Bye Transparent.

Ludo Merit: That must have been fun!

Sherpa Voyager: But the art is really his.

PleaseWakeMeUp Idler: Yeah, I couldn't start the installation until I saw the poem

Transparent Banshee: toy for ha

Sky Hye: Talk to you again soon.

Transparent Banshee: ty for the invite

Transparent Banshee: byee..slepp well all :-))

Brian Hitchcock: big gathering

PleaseWakeMeUp Idler: I thought it would be more verses, but shorter, but she told me at the start it would be dark

Sherpa Voyager: Thanks for coming, Transparent.

Filthy Fluno: brian

Filthy Fluno: this is small compared to the last few

Filthy Fluno: but a good size

Sherpa Voyager: What I found difficult

PleaseWakeMeUp Idler: Welcome Brian!

Brian Hitchcock: where r u

Sherpa Voyager: was the physicality of it.

PleaseWakeMeUp Idler: over by the chairs

Sherpa Voyager: I had to write something

Filthy Fluno: hey guys

PleaseWakeMeUp Idler: in the corner

Sherpa Voyager: that could be read

Filthy Fluno: brian is a RL painter

Sherpa Voyager: starting at any point.

Filthy Fluno: used to belong here at artop

PleaseWakeMeUp Idler: hey Brian!

Filthy Fluno: til i kick his ass out

Brian Hitchcock: hi

Emilie Cryotank: Hi brian!

Sherpa Voyager: I'm a control freak, it was hard not to tell people HOW to read it!

Emilie Cryotank: heh

PleaseWakeMeUp Idler: have a seat, we're discussing an installation

PleaseWakeMeUp Idler: I'll give a LM afterwards

Filthy Fluno: he paints like michaelangelo on crack

Harlequin Randt: I did find myself wondering as if lost

Filthy Fluno: sky.. you'd especially appreciate his painting

Brian Hitchcock: hi all

Sherpa Voyager: Good. That was meant.

Filthy Fluno: brian you too

Filthy Fluno: ok.. sorry

Emilie Cryotank: I'd like to see that!

Filthy Fluno: i'll shutup now

Harlequin Randt: it was very well done

Jeanni Nishi accepted your inventory offer.

Sky Hye: I didn't catch the whole context of that, Filthy. Does this relate to the discussion?

Sherpa Voyager: We wanted you to feel disoriented

Sherpa Voyager: lost

Sherpa Voyager: maybe a little scared

Sherpa Voyager: maybe a little sick

Ludo Merit: That worked

Emilie Cryotank: So it's not done then? is that correct?

PleaseWakeMeUp Idler: It is complete

Jeanni Nishi: be back soon-- going to see the installation!

Harlequin Randt: It gave you a feeling of wandering, hopelessness, and the red seemed to disquise everything

Sherpa Voyager: Yeah, this is it.

PleaseWakeMeUp Idler: I might do something about the voices upstairs so they don't intefere with the poety downstairs

Emilie Cryotank: ah, I thought someone said it wasn't ;)

Sherpa Voyager: I feel claustrophibic in it... like I can't breathe.

Sherpa Voyager: That was not accidental.

Sherpa Voyager: Wake is brilliant.

PleaseWakeMeUp Idler: ty! but you are also

Sherpa Voyager: We'll probably do some more work together

Sky Hye: Good idea

Sherpa Voyager: Especially as I'm now writer-in-residence here!

Sky Hye: Hmm!!

PleaseWakeMeUp Idler: buy maybe something ligher?

Sherpa Voyager: Yeah, I'm going to try hope out, see if it works for me.

Sherpa Voyager: we'll see.

PleaseWakeMeUp Idler: What was it like to see the names of the dead?

Sherpa Voyager: I tend to write dark things anyway, even in RL.

Sherpa Voyager: Yes, how did that affect people?

Jeanni Nishi accepted your inventory offer.

Sky Hye: Sort of invasive.

Sherpa Voyager: Did you read all the names?

PleaseWakeMeUp Idler: what does invasive mean there?

Emilie Cryotank: almost overwelming. they scrolled by rather fast there were so many

Sky Hye: It is very inconvenient to be confronted with personal.

Harlequin Randt: There were just too many, of course

PleaseWakeMeUp Idler: good!

Sherpa Voyager: Sky, you rock!

Sherpa Voyager: Perfect!

Sky Hye: Yes, good

Sherpa Voyager: We like being inconvenient

Sherpa Voyager: Again, it's the artist's role.

Sky Hye: Yes. Good. Really.

Sherpa Voyager: To point out what people don't want to see.

PleaseWakeMeUp Idler: to poke a stick in you.

Sky Hye: Now to get people in who need to be poked.

Sherpa Voyager: Or should art be something different? It's okay to argue if you don't agree with what I'm saying ....

PleaseWakeMeUp Idler: I found it very disconcerting working on the database of names, very hard to be worring about the coding and realzing that James had died, or "wife of Adbul"

Sherpa Voyager: I can take it (grin)

Sky Hye: I, personally, feel that art should have a higher purpose than decoration.

Filthy Fluno: no way sky! really? you?

Ludo Merit: If two artists agree about what art is I would be very amazed.

PleaseWakeMeUp Idler: You'll like one of the Feb talks, that is teh topic

Harlequin Randt: i would like to think that many would not agree with what is occurring there, and that there may some hope left in the heart of man.

Sherpa Voyager: Is it to inform? Entertain? Challenge?

Sky Hye: It must say something of the artist, the world, the community...

Emilie Cryotank: heh are we going to have a 'what is art' conversatin now/

Emilie Cryotank: ?

Sky Hye: Hehe, Filthy.

PleaseWakeMeUp Idler: no no no!!!

PleaseWakeMeUp Idler: Feb is "What is Art" month, really.

PleaseWakeMeUp Idler: A whole month of it.

Sherpa Voyager: Yeah, it is. Sorry. My fault.

Emilie Cryotank: Well it's almost feb, don't feel bad :D

PleaseWakeMeUp Idler: ha!

Sky Hye: This is not about what art is, but how I as an artist want to expend my creative energy.

Sherpa Voyager: But I think about that ... why we're doing this. And *are* we preaching to the choir?

Ludo Merit: I have a husband who would have shut that whole exhibit out, forgot it even existed.

Sherpa Voyager: Or are we just doing visual mental masturbation?

Harlequin Randt: well actually i think that your singing to the choir

PleaseWakeMeUp Idler: wow Ludo

Filthy Fluno: yea.. ludo

Emilie Cryotank: well who do you mean by the choir?

Filthy Fluno: easy there

PleaseWakeMeUp Idler: make him see it then??? :- )

Harlequin Randt: but it needs to be heard outside

Sky Hye: It's only masterbation if no one looks but you.

Sherpa Voyager: You know ... saying the words to people who already believe as you do.

Ludo Merit: He felt the same way about, what was that place, the one about reincarnatioon?

PleaseWakeMeUp Idler: don't know that palce

Sherpa Voyager: Poor Ludo.

Sherpa Voyager: That sounds difficult.

Ludo Merit: I'll see if I can findit. It is great. Makes you think. Interactive

Emilie Cryotank: but how do you know only those people will come across it? although now we come to the pesky part of informing people it exists and to drive traffic there

PleaseWakeMeUp Idler: Yeah, I have no idea how to do that.

Sherpa Voyager: Yeah ... marketing!

Sherpa Voyager: Ugh.

PleaseWakeMeUp Idler: And the site isn't cheap, not cheap at all.

PleaseWakeMeUp Idler: so it can't stay up forever.

Sky Hye: I know someone who could review it for you...

Emilie Cryotank: does SL have press releases? ;)

PleaseWakeMeUp Idler: ha!!!

Ludo Merit: Yep

Sherpa Voyager: Gee, Sky, really? (grin)

Sky Hye: I got a review just last week.

PleaseWakeMeUp Idler: Actually, a guest review would be great... wouldn't look so incestuous.

PleaseWakeMeUp Idler: hint hint

Sky Hye: Let me see...

Sherpa Voyager: Maybe you can put in a good word for us.

Sherpa Voyager: Maybe you can write the review for us!

Sky Hye: Yes, I'll make an IM to him after this meeting.

Sherpa Voyager: But I have to ask ...

Sky Hye: So much to do!

Filthy Fluno: a real life art critic sky?

Emilie Cryotank: :)

Ludo Merit: Thursdays Fictions Grove. Fantas, Esperance (239, 41, 21)

Sky Hye: Yes. He is the new SLNN critic.

PleaseWakeMeUp Idler: Thanks Ludo

Sherpa Voyager: Sky, earlier you said that you had a problem with Conspicuous Consumption. Do you still feel that way?

Filthy Fluno: oh cool

Sky Hye: It's tighter now.

PleaseWakeMeUp Idler: Yeah, I changed it based on your early comments

Sky Hye: Of course, I can't see it fresh anymore.

Sherpa Voyager: Tried to be clearer.

Sherpa Voyager: Yeah, there's that.

Sky Hye: I think it should work now.

Sherpa Voyager: We talked a lot about your comments.

Sky Hye: Good.

Sky Hye: Were they valid?

Sherpa Voyager: They were helpful; thank you again.

PleaseWakeMeUp Idler: What did people think of that, coming across 1,000 prims used like that, wastefully

PleaseWakeMeUp Idler: oh yes, they were!

Sky Hye: Good.

Sherpa Voyager: I'm not sure I agree with them, but they were surely valid. Of course they were valid.

Emilie Cryotank: I liked the direction you were going in, -w- commenting on waste, human life, and consumerism

Ludo Merit: I was not counting prims! Which is rare, I always count prims.

Sky Hye: Well, if you were in total disagreement, it would be fair to say they were not valid.

PleaseWakeMeUp Idler: there were 1,000 in that upper room alone

PleaseWakeMeUp Idler: just sitting there

Sherpa Voyager: Not at all! Your opinion is valued, I know you to be thoughtful. Of course what you say is valid.

Ludo Merit: I was too busy thinking about death and violence

PleaseWakeMeUp Idler: Interesting Ludo

PleaseWakeMeUp Idler: So the visceral was getting to you that way.

Sherpa Voyager: We wanted to connect consumerism and violence.

Sky Hye: I am not offering to be modest. It seems reasonable that I might have missed the mark in my comments.

Emilie Cryotank: Ji Jeanni

Ludo Merit: Well, I didn't get to the upper room, came late

Emilie Cryotank: hi rather

Jeanni Nishi: hi again

PleaseWakeMeUp Idler: You'll have to go back then.

PleaseWakeMeUp Idler: hi Jeanni

PleaseWakeMeUp Idler: Any comments?

Sherpa Voyager: (laughing) Sky, I do see what you're saying. And I really take your comments seriously. I realized I hadn't explained my point adequately, and you helped me see that.

Ludo Merit: Must leave, see you next time.

Sherpa Voyager: How incredibly helpful is that?

Sky Hye: I understand. :)

PleaseWakeMeUp Idler: BYe Ludo, see you aronud

Emilie Cryotank: Bye Ludo

PleaseWakeMeUp Idler: Welcome Manx

Manx Wharton: Hey gang.

Filthy Fluno: hey manx

Filthy Fluno: have a sit

Emilie Cryotank: Hi Manx

Manx Wharton: why sure.

PleaseWakeMeUp Idler: Manx, we're discussing an installation that we all visited

PleaseWakeMeUp Idler: I'll give a LM right after it

Jeanni Nishi: Manx was at the install when I just went

PleaseWakeMeUp Idler: oh good!!!!

Manx Wharton: just blew by it for a bit and thought I'd stop by.

Sherpa Voyager: So... any other thoughts?

Manx Wharton: from me?

Sherpa Voyager: (or were you all just bored by it?)

Jeanni Nishi: The red that you walk through was, after all, important...

PleaseWakeMeUp Idler: sure, you and Jeanni

Sky Hye: I think, since the show is visual and in your face, maybe more guilt inducing faces would be in order.

PleaseWakeMeUp Idler: oh, I can do more faces....

Harlequin Randt: i found it exhausting

Jeanni Nishi: and coming upon parts of the poem... felt like screams in the dark

Sherpa Voyager: Interesting.

Manx Wharton: it was a little static until my screen filled with casualties.

Emilie Cryotank: I liked the combo of words and those... watcher things looking at me

Sky Hye: Perhaps a wallpapering of faces around the inside walls.

PleaseWakeMeUp Idler: The watchers came to me in a vision

Emilie Cryotank: it seemd accusitory and.... oh how shall I put this... like a marker or memory.

Emilie Cryotank: or something

PleaseWakeMeUp Idler: I saw things looming above me

Manx Wharton: love that fro, Flithy! :D

Filthy Fluno: thanks manx

Filthy Fluno: touch it

Filthy Fluno: i know ou want to click it

Filthy Fluno: go ahead

Sky Hye: Wake, why did you choose a shape like an attenuated cornucopia?

PleaseWakeMeUp Idler: You know , I had acutally considered putting up more faces on the walls, was afraid it was going to lessen the watchers' impact

Manx Wharton: oh brother you know it.

Emilie Cryotank: Hah that's brilliant filthy

Filthy Fluno: lol

Jeanni Nishi: I have been keeping an eye on Iraqi casualties since the beginning

Manx Wharton: BRILLIANT

Filthy Fluno: infromation giver

Jeanni Nishi: grossly under-reported

Sky Hye: It would not lessen the watchers, because of the red fog.

PleaseWakeMeUp Idler: That's what I saw, something rising up and coming down from above. I was in Church of all places

Filthy Fluno: i love the spots where the red fog broke up a bit

Emilie Cryotank: I think the red fog added to them

Sherpa Voyager: Sky, that's a very interesting suggestion. It could work well.

Sky Hye: Okay, good.

Sherpa Voyager: Thanks.

PleaseWakeMeUp Idler: that was pre-fog actually, I should have revisited that.

Manx Wharton: you know, the red fog had an interesting technical consequence

PleaseWakeMeUp Idler: Plus I have another photographer interested, he'll be happy.

Sky Hye: Even better.

Manx Wharton: it made it hard to reach out to people in the room.

Sherpa Voyager: We wanted to stimulate thought -- through differnt emotional tiggers (fear, horror, disgust, disorientation, etc.)

Manx Wharton: which was kinda punk rock.

PleaseWakeMeUp Idler: The fog breakup was purposeful, to lets glimpes through, of the watchers, of the building.

Sherpa Voyager: Manx, that was deliberate.

Sky Hye: Explain the shape of your watchers.

PleaseWakeMeUp Idler: And the red made it damn hard to build!!!

Manx Wharton: I suspected.

PleaseWakeMeUp Idler: ok, the shape

PleaseWakeMeUp Idler: I was in Church, before Midnight Mass, got there abotu an hour early.

PleaseWakeMeUp Idler: Dark building, quiet, candles

PleaseWakeMeUp Idler: Was thinking of the installation, what could I do with the words.

Manx Wharton: that was my *first* thought, idler! 'wow, that fog draping is a mess to make!'

PleaseWakeMeUp Idler: And I saw... things.... risnig from the ground, looming over me, with faces on them, watching me.

PleaseWakeMeUp Idler: so I had to build it.

Manx Wharton: now the faces followed you around the room, it seemed.

PleaseWakeMeUp Idler: Easy to make, hard to work around, I usually booted it out of the way to build.

Harlequin Randt: They actually reminded me of steamship vent pipes

Sky Hye: These shapes existed in your mind's eye, as a subconscious form, then?

Filthy Fluno: hey y'all.. i gotta head out

PleaseWakeMeUp Idler: Yes, I've heard that, boat parts....

Filthy Fluno: but will be on later

Filthy Fluno: congrats on the installation

Sky Hye: Bye, Filthy.

Filthy Fluno: i think its heading in a fantastic direction

Sherpa Voyager: Sky, I'd like to hear how he answers that.

Emilie Cryotank: Bye Filthy

Filthy Fluno: and if you said its done

Filthy Fluno: then its done

Manx Wharton: l8r flithy!

PleaseWakeMeUp Idler: oh yes, they were clear, not exactly what I built, but SL does'nt permit that easly, my vision was far for flexible.

Filthy Fluno: works for me for sure

PleaseWakeMeUp Idler: bye Filth!

Sherpa Voyager: Thank you, Filthy.

Filthy Fluno: bye guys

Sky Hye: Were they more fume like in your vision?

Filthy Fluno: bye sky

Filthy Fluno: hugz!

Sky Hye: Bye

Sky Hye: :)

Manx Wharton: cheers

PleaseWakeMeUp Idler: not fumes, but fluid.

Sky Hye: Fascinating.

Sky Hye: I trust visions.

PleaseWakeMeUp Idler: It is hard to remember it actually, it was so brief, a flash.

Sherpa Voyager: Has anyone here ever collaborated with a writer to produce something like this?

Sherpa Voyager: I'd be interested in others' experiences.

Sky Hye: I wish I had.

PleaseWakeMeUp Idler: The tails were amorphous, hence the watcher tails, which are hard to see, are indiscint also

Sky Hye: It's hard to find someone who will stay with a project.

Emilie Cryotank: no but i think i may want to explore that possibility

PleaseWakeMeUp Idler: we started, we think, in early Dec

Sherpa Voyager: I think it opens up a whole lot of options

PleaseWakeMeUp Idler: Finished it, oh, about 3 hours ago

Sherpa Voyager: to explore in both SL and RL.

Emilie Cryotank: :D

Sky Hye: Yes.

Manx Wharton: hah.

Sherpa Voyager: Enriching for both artist and writer, I think.

Manx Wharton: So this was a group install?

PleaseWakeMeUp Idler: I thouht I had the whole weekend but I didn't! Oopsie

Sherpa Voyager: But they need to give each other room

Sherpa Voyager: Egos don't always allow that

PleaseWakeMeUp Idler: Yes, SHerpa Voyager and I did it.

Sherpa Voyager: I really REALLY like collaborative projects.

PleaseWakeMeUp Idler: She set the tone and did the poem, I did the build.

Jeanni Nishi: was it a first collaborative piece for you two?

Sherpa Voyager: It's not really a poem.

Sherpa Voyager: I don't know what it is.

PleaseWakeMeUp Idler: oh yes, our first, certainly

Sky Hye: It's fun, Sherpa. I enjoy doing projects with others, but unfortunately, most of those were for advertising.

Sherpa Voyager: We should talk, Sky. I love love love your work.

Manx Wharton: group work can be a lot of fun. the poem definitely complemented the piece, especially in snippets through the assembly

PleaseWakeMeUp Idler: not as enriching.... huh?

Sky Hye: Hmm!

PleaseWakeMeUp Idler: The poem IS the piece

Sky Hye: No, I hate advertising.

Manx Wharton: right

Sherpa Voyager: No, not doing advertising -- ugh.

Manx Wharton: concrete poetry.

PleaseWakeMeUp Idler: My bits were just the scenery

Sky Hye: I know, Sherpa, I was responding to Wake, if he was responding to me.

Sherpa Voyager: Interesting comment. Words made physical. I like that.

Sky Hye: I would be very interested in discussing a collaboration.

Jeanni Nishi: ineresting how you both feel the other's contributions were more important...?

PleaseWakeMeUp Idler: sure, I'm a bit lost in the threads now though...

PleaseWakeMeUp Idler: :- )

Sherpa Voyager: Cool, I'll talk to you about that later.

Manx Wharton: well, I think you can certainly view it as a comprehensive work.

Sky Hye: :)

PleaseWakeMeUp Idler: Interesting

Jeanni Nishi: Or... did you, ZSherpa. realize that your work drove the piece?

PleaseWakeMeUp Idler: It had to start with the words

Sherpa Voyager: Jeanni, I do think that we work that way ... we admire each other's work, that helps a lot.

Sherpa Voyager: I do think we both knew the words needed to come first.

Sherpa Voyager: Because I'm not as abstract a thinker as are visual artists.

Sherpa Voyager: I needed to anchor it somehow.

Jeanni Nishi: ha!

PleaseWakeMeUp Idler: ha Jeanni????

Sky Hye: Funny, I always consider writing as more abstract.

PleaseWakeMeUp Idler: please explain

Sky Hye: And visual as more literal.

Sherpa Voyager: And Wake then just took off with the concept.

Jeanni Nishi: it is often hard to figure out which is more absttract :)

PleaseWakeMeUp Idler: jeanni, please, not sky :- )

PleaseWakeMeUp Idler: I see

Manx Wharton: that's actually a funny line--'visual is more literal'

Sky Hye is laughing.

Sherpa Voyager: There's a poem in that for sure. (grin)

Jeanni Nishi: Words can be as abstract as art...

PleaseWakeMeUp Idler: One funny thing, in RL, I really dislike poetry, and here I found myself working with a poet

Jeanni Nishi: and powtry can impact in similar ways as visual art

Sherpa Voyager: I still see words as a more literal tool. I can't visualize something that doesn't exist yet. You folks can, and do.

Manx Wharton: hah

Sherpa Voyager: I envy that.

Sky Hye: :)

Manx Wharton: there are a lot of lame poets RL

PleaseWakeMeUp Idler: oh, so true,....

Sherpa Voyager: Wke hates poetry.

Jeanni Nishi: the repeated line about..Gos in America.???-- not being in the Bible...

Manx Wharton: but in some ways SL makes multimed collaboration easier.

Sherpa Voyager: yes?

PleaseWakeMeUp Idler: hey folks, time is officially up but we don't mind extending this another 5....

Sky Hye: Do you hate song lyrics, Wake?

Jeanni Nishi: echoed what the administration here would have you believe...

Sherpa Voyager: Yes, Jeannie, exactly. It was a cry first of exasperation, then of despair.

PleaseWakeMeUp Idler: funny you ask, usualy no, but most of my music is listened for sonic reasons, not lyrical ones.

Jeanni Nishi: yes, I heard it..

PleaseWakeMeUp Idler: with some exceptinos of course,

Sherpa Voyager: I listen to songs for the words, he for the music.

Jeanni Nishi: and then felt more despairing as I walked through the wailing walls

PleaseWakeMeUp Idler: My name "Please wake me up" is from a Tom Waits song

Sky Hye: Ah

Sherpa Voyager: Jeanni, thanks,

Manx Wharton: tommy tutone?!?

Sherpa Voyager: That's so what we wanted.

Emilie Cryotank: I didn't have my music on, I'll have to go back

PleaseWakeMeUp Idler: You know, I can't remember the song title!

Sky Hye: Me too.

Manx Wharton: haha:D

PleaseWakeMeUp Idler: oh, no music is there

PleaseWakeMeUp Idler: none

Sky Hye: I was listening to the State of the Union.

Jeanni Nishi: no music in the build--- I noticed that and wondered

PleaseWakeMeUp Idler: We were talking about music lyrics vs my dislike of poetry.

Harlequin Randt: Was there any stream?

Sherpa Voyager: Yeah, we didn't wnt anything to shift your focus.

Jeanni Nishi: no stream, no possibility of music

PleaseWakeMeUp Idler: Basically we ran out of time. I was thinking of Beach Boys type of tunes

Sherpa Voyager: Just the words, just the red, just the faces, just the names.

PleaseWakeMeUp Idler: happy, bright, Surfing USA!

Harlequin Randt: LOL

PleaseWakeMeUp Idler: ha! See we disagree!

Sherpa Voyager: I didn't want music. Sounds liek I won.

Manx Wharton: this is a pretty good talk! I'd like to do it again soon but have to fly.

PleaseWakeMeUp Idler: grrrrrrr....

Jeanni Nishi: perhaps some German industrial screaming

Sky Hye: The talks are always good!

Manx Wharton: hope to see yall soon.

Sherpa Voyager: (laughing)

Sky Hye: Every Monday!

Sherpa Voyager: Bye, Manx.

Manx Wharton: mondays it is!

Sherpa Voyager: Thanks for coming.

PleaseWakeMeUp Idler: Yes, next week folks is....

Manx Wharton: Fuego!

Emilie Cryotank: See you late max!

PleaseWakeMeUp Idler: ggg Soloman, hope I spelling that right.

Emilie Cryotank: Manx even ;)

Manx Wharton: cya!

Emilie Cryotank: hehehe

PleaseWakeMeUp Idler: Her talk is, well, I'm not sure.

Jeanni Nishi: no fuego!

PleaseWakeMeUp Idler: Entropy is the Solution, she has a museum attached to an environment sim

PleaseWakeMeUp Idler: It will be interesting.

PleaseWakeMeUp Idler: Field trip also, then 4 weeks of "What is Art" so that actually goes into February

Jeanni Nishi: Was there anyone who came who disagreed with your words, Sherpa?

PleaseWakeMeUp Idler: March!

Emilie Cryotank: Good question

Sherpa Voyager: Not that I've heard, Jeanni, but that' the thing ... I don't know who comes, or how to reach out to people who might have issues with it.

Jeanni Nishi: well, I know there are some in SL who are right on board with the Bushies

PleaseWakeMeUp Idler: Funny thing is....

Sherpa Voyager: I'd love to hear someone disagree. I'd love to challenge them in some way.

Emilie Cryotank: Maybe put up a comment box?

Harlequin Randt: There were some things i didn't agree with

PleaseWakeMeUp Idler: we have visitor counters at the landing spot

PleaseWakeMeUp Idler: and in the entryways

Sherpa Voyager: A comment box is brilliant.

PleaseWakeMeUp Idler: Only about third make it to the entryway

Jeanni Nishi: A comment box would be interesting

PleaseWakeMeUp Idler: Must have been something "better" there before!

Jeanni Nishi: hmmm

Sherpa Voyager: Harlequin, thanks for saying that. Did it get in the way, your not agreeing?

PleaseWakeMeUp Idler: Yes, I'll get acomment box

Emilie Cryotank: It's easy to get lost

Jeanni Nishi: maybe a sex club

Emilie Cryotank: heh!

PleaseWakeMeUp Idler: Acutally, based on people i'v met and theri attire, I think you are right

Harlequin Randt: uhmm it was things like "and afterwards no one will care"

Harlequin Randt: I know what you mena, but i think many do care

Harlequin Randt: mean

Jeanni Nishi: I have not noticed that everyone cares now---

Emilie Cryotank: People feel powerless these days

PleaseWakeMeUp Idler: I feel powerless

Sky Hye: I feel powerless.

Emilie Cryotank: it's not that people don't care, they just feel they can't do anything about it

Sherpa Voyager: Yeah ... I think I was trying to push the thoughts, the ideas, to an extreme. Maybe I *am* trying to push people's buttons. You make a valid point.

Jeanni Nishi: I have had extremely hostile reactions when I have talked about Iraqis -- individuals-- who have been killed

Sherpa Voyager: But I also see that as my role.

Harlequin Randt: i agree

Sherpa Voyager: thanks. And thanks everyone for coming to seee it.

Emilie Cryotank: ah but the American revolution only took 3-5% of the entire population to put on

Sherpa Voyager: We really appreciate your comments.

PleaseWakeMeUp Idler: One point that might not have been obvious was that the Iraqi names were all civilians

Sky Hye: I'm going back to spend more time with it.

Emilie Cryotank remembers weird stats

Harlequin Randt: it is a very powerful message

Jeanni Nishi: Most people are willing to talk about American (and British, etc.) casualties...

PleaseWakeMeUp Idler: but not Iraqi

Sky Hye: I got that they were civilians.

PleaseWakeMeUp Idler: good

Jeanni Nishi: yes, Wake, not iraqi--- and there are so many

PleaseWakeMeUp Idler: Folk, we gotta run

PleaseWakeMeUp Idler: Thank you all for coming and we'll see you next week.

Sherpa Voyager: Thank you for coming. VERY early morning tomorrow.

Sky Hye: Okay. It was a good talk tonight.

Emilie Cryotank: See ya Wake, thanks!

Sherpa Voyager: See you next week!

Sherpa Voyager: Sky, email me!

Jeanni Nishi: thank you for showing us your build--

PleaseWakeMeUp Idler: You're welcome, thank for coming. Good night all.

Sky Hye: Okay. I will. And you can email me first, if you have something in particular in mind.

Sky Hye: Bye Wake.

Jeanni Nishi: obviously, I'm right on board with the concept

Jeanni Nishi: bye, all :)
