PleaseWakeMeUp Idler: Artist fled there at the turn of the century to get away from it all. It was a fishing community then.

Esch Snoats: Well I like to add that I think the quality of the art and the styles of the artists are just as important as the whole body of the colony. If you have a weak link in there, then it doesn't help anyone else out :P

Esch Snoats: Filthy and I came from a scenario where there were great artists in the same place with really bad artists, so when we built this place, we instituted the "interview" process to not only see their work, but to see how the artist's temperment is and personality

Esch Snoats: So in SL you can custom groom the colony and weed out the crappier stuff

Esch Snoats: There have been times we've turned away artists who had fantastic work, but their attitude and ego was so bad that we knew they wouldn't gel with the rest of us here, so we passed.

Esch Snoats: Right, in SL you can take huge risks you would never dare in RL
PleaseWakeMeUp Idler: Buy buying a sim is a huge RL risk, that's real money now.
Launi Xeno: i rented a studio / gallery space but did not have the time to work it

Filthy Fluno: you also have to balance the decision that the artist can afford rent too
Filthy Fluno: that has to weigh in a little
Patchouli Woollahra: well, if it doesn't work out too well, most sims still sell for roughly the same amount they're bought at, less transfers and wear and tear.
