Filthy Fluno: if i do an SL run of it
Filthy Fluno: i say.. .ok... let's say the SL version of the image is worth 1500 lindens
Filthy Fluno: and i do limited edtion of 10
Sky Hye: I looked at this. I decided to price mine in the mid high range, and not so high that it would create an incentive to screen shot it and import as a texture. That takes a certain amount of work and the trade off of time on that, verses just buying is what I looked at.
Filthy Fluno: then each piece is worth 150
Sky Hye: I thought of other things too.
PleaseWakeMeUp Idler: Filthy, does it work? Sky, are you finding theft a big problem?
Filthy Fluno: it worked
Filthy Fluno: but then everyone started to do limited editions at higher prices
PleaseWakeMeUp Idler: But did you leave money on the table?
Sky Hye: I have no idea if theft is a problem. And I suppose I never will.

Larkum Woodget: Just the possibility is enough to cause anxiety
Filthy Fluno: its always better to sell out an edition
PleaseWakeMeUp Idler: As long as you haven't sold out of some, you know that you are no too low, (assuming your stuff doesn't suck)
Esch Snoats: Also I think a bigger issue to pricing is oversaturation. When Filth and I started SL, there were just 40 galleries and a couple hundred artists. It was quite easy to sell your work almost at any price if it were good.

Esch Snoats: But now, we have over 400 galleries and thousands of artists, so there's so much competition now that the old model doesn't work

Sky Hye: I wish there was some way to convey to the gallery visitor that buying art is a way to communicate to the artist that you support their effort.
